Alessandro Rossi, born in 1989, is considered one of the most talented and versatile drummer in the current jazz scene. He started playing the drums at six years old, later studied percussion at Milan’s conservatory and graduated with top marks in “Drums and jazz percussion” at Como’s conservatory. In 2014 he was awarded a scholarship by Siena Jazz to take part in IASJ, an international jazz masterclass directed by Dave Liebman, which took place the year after (2015) in Lisbon. First classified in the national rankings established by italian conservatories, he played the drums in ONJGT (National orchestra Italian’s jazz young talents) directed by Paolo Damiani, where he worked together with Enrico Rava and Rosario Giuliani. He wons first price at “Tomorrow’s Jazz” contest at “Teatro La Fenice” in Venice. In 2016 he formed EM4NCIPATION. The project was born from common purposes in stylistic and musical research between Alessandro Rossi, Andrea Lombardini, Massimiliano Milesi and Massimo Imperatore. In 2017 the band released its debut album Emancipation (Cam Jazz) which skyrocketed them from smaller italian venues to festivals in Italy and abroad. The involvement with Brooklyn based rapper and artist Yah Supreme in 2019 marked a turning point for EM4NCIPATION as a band. Alessandro is also a very activity sideman. In the last 10 years  he’s performing in many countries including Europe, U.S.A, Canada, China and Japan.
